Having won the inaugural I.F.B.B. Junior Mr Universe in 1980, Sam travelled back to South Africa to successfully defend his title in 1981.

I personally rank him in my list of the top 5 Australian Bodybuilders of all time! Right in amongst the company of Roger Walker, John Terilli, Peter McCarthy and Les Spendlove.
